Meet the Team

Melissa Hernandez

Melissa Alverson

Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist, corrective exercise specialist, Certified Specialist in Orofacial Myology, Cranial Therapist, Licensed Massage Therapist #2679, Licensed Esthetician, continuing education instructor

I’ve been practicing manual therapy for over 30 years, and I target complex pain issues with a focused approach. Charting pain patterns combined with functional movement assessments, postural analysis, orthopedic testing and palpation helps identify overactive/underactive muscle groups and compensations. Various manual therapy techniques are utilized, and I retest within each session to measure improvements.

Autonomic dysregulation, breathing pattern disorders and sleep disturbances are common underlying contributing factors in the lives of many chronic pain patients. Identifying and treating these perpetuating factors is a key focus in our work together.

Integrating effective clinical sessions with individualized at-home daily exercises, including neuro-sensory-motor integration, and incorporating corrective posture and movement techniques can help restore balance to the nervous system in order to reduce, manage and/or eliminate pain.

"Body awareness is essential for the ongoing evolution of self care"

Prior health issues during college opened the door to my interest in natural healing. Teaching skiing 1991-2011 in Taos, NM added the movement and athletic/ kinesthetic awareness.

I graduated from the Scherer Institute (currently the Santa Fe School of Massage) in Taos, NM in 1996, have been in practice since.

I have collaborated continuously over the years with MDs, chiropractors, other body workers, and doctors of Oriental Medicine in both Taos and Albuquerque to help create a supportive environment for optimal healing. I am passionate about helping my patients manage their pain, and teaching self care.

I love combining modalities and utilizing essential oils to best serve my clients.

Kobe the therapy dog

Kobe

Therapy dog in training

Hello there! My name is Kobe, and I am a friendly miniature poodle puppy! I’m still in puppy training, but soon I hope to pass my AKC Canine Good Citizen test! After that, I’ll start therapy dog training. For now, I am practicing being a good boy! If you would like me to keep you company during your treatment sessions, I’d be happy to sit on the floor next to you while you get your treatment! Otherwise, I will help Adah at the front desk. Woof! (oops…I’m learning not to bark, too!)

Hi! My name is Willow. I’m a very tiny miniature poodle puppy, and I’m a little shy. My brother Kobe likes to get all the attention, but that’s okay with me. I’m happy to sit and look pretty in my fluffy doggie bed. I’m still learning to be confident, so it might take me a while to be brave enough to say hello. I do love to cuddle, so maybe we could snuggle together on the table while you’re having a treatment!
